MINISTRY OF ONE-WOMAN DRAMAS

the house lights dim
a hush comes over the audience
the stage lights brighten
“…Shalom, my name is Mary…”

Bio
In 1976 Christ came into Margaret Mary Andersen’s life and it was this new-found excitement about Jesus, coupled with her life-long theatre experience that gave her the impetus to begin a Christian theatre company, The King’s Witness.  She began writing the material for the company and then through the encouragement of a friend began to write a one-woman drama, Mary’s Boy.

Mary’s Boy was first performed in 1979 as a Mother’s day gift to Margaret’s home congregation.  The reception was overwhelming and it started a 25 year adventure in performing one-woman plays all over the world.

Born in Duluth, Minnesota, she is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds a Master’s degree from Southern Connecticut State University.  She lived in New York City for over 20 years and studied and worked there.

She has now written three additional plays based on Scripture; Rahab-The Story of a Changed Life, Remember Me, and The Greatest Expectation.

After September 11, 2001, Margaret made the decision to leave Manhattan and has resided in Mount Dora, FL since 2003.  For the past 3years or more she has been publishing a central Florida women’s magazine Maggie Mae Magazine.

God has placed a unique call on Margaret’s life; presenting the gospel through the media of theatre.  “It’s exciting and sometimes frightening to be in a faith ministry,” Margaret shares.  “My acting career has blessed many people and many exciting stories have come back to me about the impact this ministry has had on many people over the years.”
